Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments provided by LMC. This ensures you minimise time away from work and undertake study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.
To gain the qualification delegates must complete assignments of approximately 2,500 words long. Assignments are an important part of the programme as they encourage deeper reflection and research. The number of assignments to be completed will vary subject to the qualification selected.
AWARD, DIPLOMA OR CERTIFICATE?
CMI qualifications come in three different sizes, depending on how in-depth the qualification is and how long it will take you to complete it.
Our Level 5 Award in Coaching & Mentoring provides an introduction to the skills, roles and responsibilities of this management area. It will also develop your basic knowledge by focusing on the development of specific management skills.
Award is the shortest and most concise qualification – taking between 1 and 3 months.
A more extensive qualification, our Level 5 Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring gives you a broader knowledge of effective management skills while focusing on the specific management areas appropriate to you and your workplace.
Certificate provides a broad base of knowledge and skills – taking between 3 and 6 months.
With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 5 Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring gives you all the key skills and competencies you'll need to become an effective first line manager.
Diploma provides a comprehensive and extensive programme of learning - taking between 6 and 12 months.
UNITS AND CREDITS
CMI qualifications consist of units, which have a credit value that tells you roughly, how long it takes to complete – one credit represents about 10 hours’ work.
You will see a list of available unit options in each of the LMC course pages.
- Awards are 5 to 10 credits (50 and 100 hours’ learning).
- Certificates are 13 to 20 credits (130 to 200 hours’ learning).
- Diplomas are 37 or more credits (370 or more hours’ learning).
