Empowerment
The development in individuals in an organisation (who had little or no previous influence in decision making) of informed opinions, to take initiatives, make independent choices and influence change. Through empowerment, those with prior influence actively change their attitudes and rules and change the way decisions are made through engaging with other people. Empowerment makes it possible to upgrade the performance of an organisation through greater delegation of authority to act. It encourages and enfranchises employees to make decisions and take more responsibility for their actions.
