A term representing a standard in employment law criteria whereby companies and their associated employees treat customers, employees, stakeholders or prospects in a way that does not discriminate them on the basis of their race, sex, creed, religion, colour or national origin. Equal opportunity practices aim to ensure fairness for all in the workplace. An equal opportunity action plan may be used to highlight areas where an organisation is failing to adequately represent minority groups and suggest ways to solve issues relating to problems with equality in the workplace.
