Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC)

An equation to calculate expected financial return from the capital of every source within a company. Examples include stocks, bonds and debt. Sources of capital are weighted using their importance to the company's financial structure. WACC allows a company to achieve benchmarks with which to evaluate financial viability.
