Acquired Needs Theory

A theory that all individuals have three primary needs: achievement, power and affiliation. These needs affect behaviour and although all three are present, one need is naturally dominant. HR managers and business psychologists use tests such as the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) to gauge employees' dominant need when matching employees to job profiles.
