Transformational Leadership

A leadership theory which seeks to motivate and transform followers to be more aware of task outcomes, activate their highest order needs and to go beyond their own self-interest for the benefit of the organisation. The transformational leader seeks to build commitment, and to empower and elevate followers to the greatest degree possible. Through transformational influence, followers are motivated to do more than they originally would and feel a greater degree of respect and trust for the leader.
