Team Building

The selection, development and collective motivation of result-oriented teams by a leader or manager. Efforts include emphasising common values and interests, initiation of rituals, symbols and ceremonies, encouraging non-business social interaction, cultivating appreciation and tolerance, and establishing incentives to reward mutual cooperation. Team building is pursued via a variety of practices such as group self-assessment and group-dynamic games. It generally sits within the theory and practice of organisational development.
