Stress Management

A process intended to equip a person with effective coping mechanisms for dealing with stress or the perception that demands made of them exceed their personal and social resources. Stress management helps individuals remain effective in high pressure situations and avoid long term stress. Stress management is often approached in three main ways: action-oriented, in which it is sought to confront the problem causing the stress; emotionally-oriented, in which stress is managed by changing the interpretation of the situation; and acceptance-oriented, which focuses on accepting and surviving external conditions causing the stress symptoms.
