Michael Welham
JP, MPhil, MSc, CFIOSH, FIIRSM, MEWI
Mike's career involved the offshore oil and gas contractor industry, both in the UK and overseas. He moved from being a contractor to that of a client when he joined Britoil Plc, a major oil and gas exploration and production company. This was followed by fifteen years as a Principal Inspector with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Since then, as an independent expert on health and safety, his recent clients have included Shell, BP and ConocoPhillips. Mike is an expert witness for criminal, coroners and civil courts and he has also been a magistrate for 14 years. He is the author of Tolley's Corporate Killing: A Manager's Guide to Legal Compliance. He is also co-author of The Poacher and the Gamekeeper - Leadership for Risk Mitigation in Occupational Health and Safety.
